Why this blog concerning the Christian youth? Well, so many things and issues distract the spiritual nurture of young believers. If there is one thing the young Christian should be energetically involved? That should be their growth in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Apostle Peter’s second letter to the dispersed believers said,
“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:14-18)
The Believer’s Study Bible commented on vv. 15-16 stating, “In these two pivotal verses Peter makes three cogent observations: (1) Peter observes wryly that Paul is not always easy to understand (v. 16). (2) Consequently, the untaught and unstable have a tendency to “twist” these writings to their own destruction. The word “twist” may be translated “distort.” (3) This process is also characteristic of these false teachers in their handling of “the rest of the Scriptures.”
The believer ought not be described as those “untaught and unstable.” Our challenge to the body of Christ at DCCC is to be skilled in handling of the truth, the Word of God. This blog, therefore, was created in that hope that they grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
